Toastmasters Club
Welcome to Gainesville Toastmasters!
If you want to improve your public speaking, communication and leadership skills, or you just simply want to meet new people, socialize and network, then Gainesville Toastmasters is the place for you!

Who are we?

Established in February 1958, Gainesville Toastmasters is one of the oldest clubs in Georgia. During those 50+ years, we've helped members become more confident in front of an audience, and become better speakers and leaders. Our Toastmasters meetings are composed of approximately 20 people who meet every Monday for an hour. Participants practice and learn skills by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian.

What is Toastmasters?

In October 1924, a group of men assembled by Dr. Ralph Smedley met in the basement of the YMCA in Santa Ana, California, USA, forming a club “to affordpractice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.” This group took the name "Toastmasters”. Now there are more than 250,000 members in 106 countries. Our club is one of more than 12,000 clubs around the world.

How does it work?

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

When and Where do we meet?

We meet every Monday night  (except Holidays) from 5:45 - 6:45 at the Jacobs Business and Mass Communications Building at Brenau University. The address is 340 Green Street, Gainesville, GA 30501. Please visit the Directions link on the left for more detailed information on our location.

 What's in it for you?

Our meetings are energetic, entertaining and enjoyable. Never boring, never dull, always stimulating. Even though the same structure is followed each week, no two meetings are the same.

We encourage you to visit us as a guest. You can sit back and observe, or participate. It’s up to you. However, now is the time to conquer your fears and live out loud!
